Vernon Williams

Sexton – Vernon Williams

Vernon began his employment at the First Presbyterian Church on 2 January 2013.  He was hired to fill the shoes of Carl Fifield who left to enjoy his well deserved second retirement, and big shoes they were.

Vernon works Monday through Thursday from 8:00 to 1:00 and is always available for assistance to anyone who needs it.  Vernon performs a myriad of tasks at the church such as general cleaning, small repairs, critter control, setting up tables and chairs for various church functions and organizations such as WIC, Food Sense, etc.  Days at the church are never boring.

Vernon has lived most of his life in Ogdensburg and considers himself a “Burger”.  He and his beautiful wife Cindy will celebrate their 45th anniversary in September.  They have 2 sons, James and Daniel.  Vernon is a bowler (rumor has it) and serves as the secretary for his league.  He has also been known to play a round of Golf or two when the opportunity presents itself.

Vernon’s previous employment was with the Department of Defense for 27 years where he served in various capacities with the last 21 years as a USAR Unit Administrator.  Vernon served in the United States Army Reserve for 28 years retiring with a rank of SFC E7.  Vernon is extremely proud of his military service.

Vernon would like to thank all the members of the First Presbyterian Church for the gracious way they cared for him during his stroke and the time following as he has gotten back into the swing of thing.
